Applied Optoelectronics Inc. and Skanska Top Out
HOUSTON, December 15, 2015 – Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) and Skanska USA recently celebrated a topping out ceremony as a tree was symbolically placed on the top of the new expansion building adjacent to the current AOI headquarters in Sugar Land, Texas.
The new expansion projects include two buildings. The first building under construction is a 106,000-square-foot, three-story concrete facility providing a 15,700-square-foot Class 100,000 clean room, additional office and administration space, as well as a research and development labs. Additionally, Skanska topped out a second building, a 10,000-sqaure-foot Class 10,000 clean room expanding their semi-conductor chips manufacturing capacity.
This $30 million expansion project is expected to be completed by April 2016. Yong Architects, Inc. is the project architect. B. Bell Builders, Inc., a local general contractor, is also part of the construction team.
