Applied Optoelectronics Announces 40 Gbps Light Engines
Sugar Land, TX, March 23, 2015 – Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAOI), a leading provider of fiber-optic access network products for the internet data center, cable TV broadband, and fiber-to-the-home markets, today announced availability of a new 40 Gbps light engine, designed for datacenter applications.

Manufacturing these advanced high-speed light engines at our factories in Asia will help ensure we deliver performance and reliability to our customers at a compelling cost advantage.”
The light engines are designed to be incorporated within 40 Gbps QSFP+ transceivers utilizing Multi-Fiber Push-On “MPO” optical connectors. They are available with either 1310-nm FP or DFB laser diodes, for transmission distances of 2-km up to 10-km at datarates up to 10.3125 Gbps per lane. They are designed to operate from -5 ̊C to +75 ̊C.
Both types are currently in production and samples are available upon request.
