Dr. Thompson Lin

Founder, President & CEO

Dr. Lin founded AOI in February, 1997. Since that time, he has served as President and CEO. Dr. Lin received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. After earning his degree, he was an Associate Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering before founding AOI. Dr. Lin has more than 10 U.S. patents and has authored more than 200 technical papers and presentations.


Dr. Wen-Yen Hwang

VP Engineering
Dr. Hwang has been with AOI since February, 1999. After receiving his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Hwang joined Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technology, where he was responsible for the development of innovative processes that allow the fabrication of communication-grade laser diodes utilizing the Molecular Beam Epitaxy technique. Dr. Hwang holds 22 U.S. patents and has authored more than 70 technical papers and presentations.

Dr. Fred Chang

VP Optical Module Division
Dr. Chang earned his Ph.D. in Electro-Optical Engineering from National Chiao-Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Before joining AOI in 2001, Dr. Chang's career included research and management positions at Hon-Hai Precision Industries, Chunghwa Telecom Research Laboratories, and the Taiwan Ministry of Transport and Communications. Dr. Chang holds 9 U.S. and Taiwanese patents.

Dr. Stefan Murry

VP Sales & Marketing
Dr. Murry has been with AOI since its founding in 1997. He has been responsible for sales and marketing efforts worldwide since 2000. Prior to AOI, Dr. Murry was involved in various research programs involving semiconductor lasers, including work for NASA-Johnson Space Center, the U.S. Air Force Research Lab, and the University of Houston. Dr. Murry holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Houston, and holds 4 U.S. patents.

N. Stephan Kinsella

General Counsel & VP Intellectual Property
Mr. Kinsella joined AOI in 2000, after leaving a position as partner in the intellectual property department of the law firm of Duane, Morris, LLP. Mr. Kinsella holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Juris Doctor degree, both from the Louisiana State University. He also holds an LL.M. in International Business Law from King's College London. Mr. Kinsella is responsible for all aspects of AOI's intellectual property protection and supervises AOI's legal matters.

Dr. Klaus Alex Anselm

VP Semiconductor Products
Dr. Anselm joined AOI in 1999, after leaving Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, where he was responsible for fundamental developments in the use of Molecular Beam Epitaxy for the manufacture of laser diodes. Dr. Anselm earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas. He holds 12 U.S. patents and has written more than 40 journal articles and conference presentations.
